It is often said that error spread faster than the truth. If there is anything to this claim, the fault must be that those who have the truth do little or nothing with it. What inspired this was an experience at a Barber shop. At about noon one day, a woman with a baby strapped to her back entered. In her company also was a young lady who should be in her late teens and another toddler held by hand. She introduced her team and their mission. “We are Jehovah’s Witnesses, may we come in?” Before one of the shop owners could respond, they made their way in and began to give out their message, almost by rote. Siting on the swerving chair, I began to think of several things. For all we know, the doctrines of this sect do not align with those of historic Christianity. They do not subscribe to the doctrine of Trinity, because they take Jesus as the highest of created being, not the creator. There are several other major areas of departure. Yet this woman dutifully kept to what she had learned and was eagerly giving it to others.
If we don’t let our light shine darkness will indeed reign. Believers should come to a resolve not to allow their light to be hidden anymore.
Jesus described us salt of the earth and light of the world. He further stressed that a candle lit is not meant to be under the bushel. It should be on the candlestick where everyone around can enjoy its illuminating power. It has been noted that the only thing needed for error to spread is for truth to keep silence. If we don’t let our light shine darkness will indeed reign. Believers should come to a resolve not to allow their light to be hidden anymore.
