In previous meditation, we learned of the need to let go of people when they violate us. We discovered how dangerous it is to live in an unforgiving atmosphere. There is the flip side to this. There are those who don’t find it difficult to let off people’s failings, but they have a hard time letting off themselves! In other words, some seem to never be able to forgive their own errors, pick themselves by the bootstrap and move on. This is long after God has extended pardon. We need to grasp the fact that God is gracious; and this is why He can use people despite their flawed past. This fact is often lost on many; and it is demonstrated by how they refuse to let go of the past.
“Focusing on negative past will shrink capacity rather than build it. Looking at the negative past will ruin sense of esteem and worth.”
Moses, for example, did not realize that the mercies of God had dealt with his past blunder. He therefore found it difficult to step into any new role that God had cut out for him. When God sent him with the word of deliverance to Pharaoh, he responded with what we have today as passage for meditation. Obviously he was still being tormented by his past. Until God succeeded to take Moses’ mind away from his past he could not see the future that was reserved for him. Focusing on negative past will shrink capacity rather than build it. Looking at the negative past will ruin sense of esteem and worth. Once you bring your past before the Lord, leave it there. It is time to look forward to the new things that God has in mind for us.
