Apart from God’s creative ingenuity recorded in Genesis 1, we also notice certain management principles that He established. God’s managerial prowess was demonstrated in several ways. For instance, there was a statement of purpose for creation, and we shall return to this shortly. Suffice it to say now that when He created lights, He stated their purposes. “Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years” (Genesis 1:14 NKJV). It was also a manifestation of management initiative when God delineated boundaries for creation. The fishes have their abode in the waters while the beasts abide in the fields. Even different lights have different timings. “Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also.” (Genesis 1:16 NKJV). There is yet another management principle engaged by God; that is, review of work done. After each day of creation, God took a long look at the work done and certified them good before proceeding to something else.
God made man in His likeness…Becoming conscious of their presence is the first step to living a life of exponential exploits…we are made to reign!
From our scriptural text, we see that God made man in His likeness. If we have noted that God is creative and possesses managerial expertise, and we are created in His image, then it stands to reason that we also have these traits in us. They may not have been developed or deployed, but they are there. Becoming conscious of their presence is the first step to living a life of exponential exploits. Critically, we return to the purpose of God for man on earth. From our text, man is to “reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground”. Simply, we are made to reign!
