On Monday, May 24th this year I missed a scheduled flight. As disappointing as that was, two lessons came through for me. One is about paying attention to details. The flight information received from the airlines put departure time at 15:50. I read that to mean 5:50 pm! When I arrived at the airport, the counter was all but dry. It was then I checked the notice again. I was more than two hours late. Thank God there was no sensitive appointment to keep; so I had the luxury of going back to town and booking another ticket for the following day. Some opportunities may pass us by if we fail to take heed to the fine prints.
Generally, you need a trained tongue to create any appeal either in your person or your product… A measured approach to speaking can fetch you a fortune.
The following morning, I was early at the airport. After the check-in formalities, I took a seat at the departure lounge. “Good morning, sir” a young lady greeted. I returned her courtesy. She proceeded to say that she seemed certain that she saw me the previous day. My bag was the trademark that gave me out. I confirmed that it was true and told her why I couldn’t travel. She then asked if I would like to run some tests to check my health status. I didn’t feel that I needed any; but her approach was so friendly that I opted for some. I had to go to their mobile lab at the corner of the airport. Her approach won a customer and she made sales running to thousands of naira. You cannot be a salesperson without applying the law of courtesy. Generally, you need a trained tongue to create any appeal either in your person or your product. Our text says that we should season our speech with grace, so we can speak rightly at all times. A measured approach to speaking can fetch you a fortune.
