Not many people like to be odd in any situation; this is because we often associate oddity with negatives. However, it is quite possible to be odd and be positively and profitably so. As a matter of fact, to build godly character and be true ambassadors of the kingdom, there are many occasions when we will have to be odd. A chameleon approach to life cannot walk in tandem with the plans and purposes of God. The idea of coming into the faith of the Lord Jesus is actually an invitation to the odd side of life. Deciding to not do things the way of the world will put you in odd situations with the unbelievers. The good news is that those who take their stand for the truth, not minding being odd, present themselves unto God for higher service.
The reward of standing out may not be immediately manifest, but one day those who endure the ordeal will be able to look back and know it did worth it.
Joseph was an odd man among his siblings. He abstained from the evil practices of his brothers. While the Bible did not state expressly that his stand for righteousness had anything to do with it, we can safely assume it was one of the reasons why God blessed him with a divine dream that would make him impact his world eventually. Being the odd one is not easy. This much is suggested in our text scripture today. In the days of Isaiah, those who stood out for the truth risked being attacked by the multitudes who just blended in. Not much has changed in our time. But if we consider the long term effect of being odd for God, it pays richly. The reward of standing out may not be immediately manifest, but one day those who endure the ordeal will be able to look back and know it did worth it.
