There is an adage that you cannot barb a man’s hair in absentia. By protocol, God will always get people involved in the execution of divine agenda for their lives. The Bible calls us co-labourers with God, and that is not without a reason. Let us illustrate with some of the miracles of Jesus. On two separate occasions, Jesus fed the multitudes. Looking at the first of such miracles, we have several contributors. Firstly, there was the young man who came to the meeting ground with a lunch pack. Secondly, there were the disciples who fetched the pack for Jesus to bless before becoming food distributors. Probably, they also gathered the leftovers. Finally, the multitudes, who had enough faith to sit down as instructed. We see a picture of participation.
“The power of God is always available for all situations but requires our participation to manifest.”
Everyone who had their fill of the miracle bread had one role or another to play. The power of God is always available for all situations but requires our participation to manifest. It was participation when the boy volunteered his meal. It was participation when the disciples went among the crowds distributing the blessed meal. It was also participation when the crowd obeyed and sat down in ranks. When Saul encountered the Lord on the way to Damascus, he asked, “Lord, what would you have me to do?” I believe this is a question we need to ask often to see more of God’s acts in our lives.
