“Have a great week…and be kind to each other”. Those were the words of the lead air hostess of Flight 756 as we pulled towards the Gate at St. Louis, Missouri. Merriam-Webster has several definitions for platform. I love the one that says it is “a means or opportunity to communicate ideas or information to a group of people”. What the air hostess did was to use the platform available to her to spread an ideal. That platform was her job. The vast majority of people have some basic notions about their work. They see work as the way to make money, pay bills, and catch some fun. That’s correct, but the idea of work is far more than these.
Believers should see their work as platforms to spread the ideals of the Kingdom and their King – Jesus… giving a touch of excellence to every task given them can draw sinners to the way of salvation.
Believers should see their work as platforms to spread the ideals of the Kingdom and their King – Jesus. Does this suggest zeal without knowledge and turning the office space to a crusade ground? Not at all. What we mean is that believers should know that their comportment can testify of the One who lives in them. We mean that giving a touch of excellence to every task given them can draw sinners to the way of salvation. Recently, I picked this powerful nugget from Reverend Tope Popoola’s Facebook post: “Make your work your pulpit and your output your message, and you will never need a microphone”. Imagine how many pulpits there would be if all Christians take their work as opportunities to advertise Christ!
