After the mourning period, Adam and Eve returned to the joyful path again with the birth of Seth. The meaning of Seth is “Set, settled, placed”. You can almost hear the ring of excitement as Eve named their son. She specifically called Seth “another seed” instead of Abel who had been murdered in cold blood by Cain. What was the reason for her excitement? I believe it was because of God’s promise. Shortly after the fall, God promised that the seed of the woman would bruise the head of the serpent. Abel must have been deemed as that seed or at least the progenitor of the seed. Therefore, when he was killed, it must have been like a dashed hope. When Seth was born, there was a restoration of the righteous lineage from which the seed would come.
Whatever He says, He is capable of bringing to pass…The devil may seem to have put it on hold, but be assured that God is coming through for you.
This brings us to certain realities about God. He is a promise keeper. Whatever He says, He is capable of bringing to pass. This reminds me of a refrain from Dr. Tunde Bakare — “whatever God has purposed before time, nothing in time can ever scuttle”. God purposed that the seed of the woman would come. That found fulfillment in the coming of the Lord Jesus. He spoiled principalities and powers, made an open show of them and triumphed. What is it that God has promised you? The devil may seem to have put it on hold, but be assured that God is coming through for you.
