You probably know the acronym – PUSH – which stands for PRAY UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS! In reality, every time we pray something happens. The 120 who survived Jesus were huddled together in the Upper Room until the day of Pentecost. They offered continuous prayer to God until something happened. Cloven tongues like fire descended and sat on all of them. They were all baptized in the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues. After Stephen, James was the second person who died for his faith in the Lord. The unbelieving Jews received the news of his death with so much excitement that King Herod proceeded to arrest Peter. He planned to wait till after Easter before executing him. But the Christians prayed, and something happened. The angel of the Lord came into the prison and delivered Peter.
Furthermore, Paul and Silas were imprisoned for preaching the gospel and liberating a demonised lady. At midnight, they prayed and sang praises to God until something happened. An earthquake shook the prison’s foundation and ripped apart the chains on the prisoners. The point we are making is that every time we pray, we are generating something. It could be fire, light, or wind – something is generated each time we pray. It may not be as spectacular as the ones we discussed here, but it doesn’t remove from the fact that something happens when we pray. If for nothing else, grace is released!
