Meekness featured prominently in the Beatitudes. Jesus said, “Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.” (
“One way we show humility is to consider others better than us and give them space.”
Several Bible characters passed the test of humility. For example, the Bible describes Moses as the meekest man on earth. Joseph’s story illustrates a life elevated by God. His was a prison-to-palace story. From the dingy prison cell, he was elevated to be the second-ranked man in Egypt. Joseph did not get to that position simply because he was brilliant or for his ability to interpret dreams. It was his humility that paved the way for him. He demonstrated humility in at least two pivotal ways when he stood before the King. When the King celebrated him as the interpreter of dream ever before he heard him, Joseph replied that it was not in him. He rather prayed that God would give Pharaoh an answer of peace. Again, after interpreting the dream Joseph did not advance himself as the one to take charge of affairs; he simply asked Pharaoh to look for a wise man. One way we show humility is to consider others better than us and give
them space.
