In Job chapters 38-41, we see God sparring with His disgruntled servant. Job had appraised himself in various places and gave himself a good nod. He wondered why the Almighty would contest with him unfairly. These chapters of the Bible brought up many questions to which Job had no answer. In addition, they brought forth some deep mysteries of God and His acts. The text before us provides an opportunity to peep into the foundation of the earth. On the occasion of laying the foundations of the earth, the Bible records that the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy. The ovation given on that day was to praise God for His marvellous acts.
As we lay the foundation of a new year, we should take a clue from the morning stars and the sons of God. Let us sing God’s praise and shout for joy.
I find this passage relevant right now, not so much because we are laying the foundation of another earth, but because a new year is beginning. As we lay the foundation of a new year, we should take a clue from the morning stars and the sons of God. Let us sing God’s praise and shout for joy. This is the right course of action as it is a privilege to see another year. Also, it is a prophetic step. Psalm 67 exhorts people to praise the Lord, stating that when that is done the earth will yield its increase. Beginning the year on a note of thanksgiving and praise can soften the years for greater accomplishment.
