We observed in our previous meditation that revelation will give anyone a head start. We noted Jesus giving Peter the keys of the kingdom after he got a revelation of who Christ was. The same keys were given to the rest of the disciples a little later, but revelation had conferred an advantage on Peter. What to bear in mind right now is that revelation is spirit-controlled. It is for this reason that Apostle Paul prayed for the Ephesians that they might be filled with the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God.
To enjoy the spirit of revelation, we must first of all set the stage. It starts with expectation. It is important to consider revelation as a part of our redemption privileges. Among other things, the Spirit is given to “show you things to come” (John 16:13). Next, we maintain a child-like simplicity in our dealings with God. “At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes” (Mathew 11:25). A stubborn mind will keep anyone from accessing the deep things of God. Finally, discipline your mind to be quiet. An unsettled mind cannot receive from God. Constant mental battles are not conducive to the spirit of revelation.
