There are established paths to power. Just before Jesus ascended into heaven, He showed the disciples one of these paths – waiting. “And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” Acts 1:4-5 NKJV. The first 10 days after Jesus ascended, the disciples obeyed the command of the Lord, huddling together in the Upper Room. The result was the outpouring of the Spirit and power as documented in Acts 2.
Those who want to experience the power of God must go beyond positional or inputted holiness into experiential holiness.
Personal holiness is another path to the power of God. Seeking power before seeking personal holiness is like putting the cart before the horse. Those who want to experience the power of God must go beyond positional or inputted holiness into experiential holiness. It is evident from our text that power is supplied by the Spirit of holiness. The more we subject ourselves to the Spirit to help us develop personal holiness, the more our chances of walking in God’s power. According to 2 Corinthians 7:1, it is through the fear of the Lord that we can perfect holiness.
