If you have the chance, watch the reality TV show called BOTCHED UP BODIES. Of
course, you will need to be very discrete. It focuses on people going under the knife to
reconstruct some parts of their bodies. Those who go for these procedures do so to
enhance their looks and ultimately boost their confidence. However, they do not all have
a happy ending as some end up disfigured, necessitating more and more surgeries.
People simply want to look their best. This underscores the craving for beauty. Well,
nothing is wrong with that except the enormous cost and danger attached. Even when
there is success and immediate gain, things still fall apart with time when the ageing
process sets in.
“Those who go for these procedures do so to enhance their looks and ultimately boost their confidence.”
However, there is good news for all beauty lovers as stated in our passage for
meditation today. Christ will one day change our vile body into his own glorious body!
Truly, the best beauty therapy here on earth will not stop the body from decaying. Our
body is simply an ageing house with an expiry date. So for a time, we may groan in this
body alongside other creatures as we await the manifestation of the perfected sons of
God. At His first appearance, Jesus redeemed us from our vile nature to enable us to
share in God’s divine nature. But the redemption of the body will have to wait for His
second appearance. When He returns, we will not need to strive for beauty by the knife,
it will be the beauty of the Lord for all who believe in Him.
