In the previous meditation, I recalled how my 11-year old boy said he would paint his house in a certain way. When I counseled him to wait and build first before thinking of the colour of the house, he spoke vehemently again that he would indeed build his house. On that second call, he not only stressed what he would do but went ahead to inform me that he would use Eagle Cement and Saclux paint. I probed to know the reason for that brand of cement and paint. He replied by telling the lines used to advertise those products. If I am not mistaken, chief Zebrudaya was the face and voice of Saclux paint at the time, and my boy loved the lines. He went on to inform me that he did not like the advert of another brand reigning at the time. His choice was not based on quality or price, just the advert.
Temptation is no more than the devil’s commercials…By the word of God, you can see beyond the veneer of Satan’s deception and live victoriously.
We live in a world of make-believe. Daily, the business world tries to mould our opinions one way or another through the adverts that they churn out every hour. The soap operas follow the same gimmick. Those who build their choices solely on TV commercials may end up lining the pockets of business owners while they reap the whirlwind. It is no different in the spiritual parlance. Temptation is no more than the devil’s commercials. The devil tried to market Jesus. All the glory of the world was up for grabs if Jesus would bow down in worship. The Master knew better; He overcame the temptation by the written word of God. By the word of God, you can see beyond the veneer of Satan’s deception and live victoriously.
