One of my associate pastors sent me airtime through WhatsApp sometime ago, precisely March 2. I did not get to read her message; much less acknowledge it till May 15. After reading the accompanying note, I figured she had intended the gift as welcome package for a new month. I eventually got to load the airtime worth several thousands of naira two weeks after she had sent it. The good news is that the vouchers were not withdrawn, and I still got to enjoy them.
“The gifts and callings are complementary. The gifts are the tools for carrying out our calling. An understanding of your gift may as well be a pointer to the type of calling or assignment that has been given to you.”
This brings me to the gifts and calling of God. They may vary in type and magnitude, but all of us have been given gifts by God. In addition to the gifts are callings. By this we mean specific assignments or purposes that God has earmarked for each person. The gifts and callings are complementary. The gifts are the tools for carrying out our calling. An understanding of your gift may as well be a pointer to the type of calling or assignment that has been given to you. The worrisome issue is this: just as I did not discover the vouchers sent to me in good time, so are many children of God who are yet to know where they fit into as far as God’s kingdom is concerned. They watch others with admiration as they excel with their gifts. Sometimes they are jealous of others. What such persons should know is that they are not left out. Moreover, God has not disqualified them for failure to use their gifts up till now. Today is good enough a time to enjoy what has already been made yours by grace.
