God did not leave our protection to chance. Moreover, He did not leave it to any man-made device that could fail. Our defence is nothing short of the name of the Lord. The Psalmist likened the name of the Lord to a strong tower. Our present focus will be how we can activate this defence. How may we run into the name of the Lord. There are two considerations put forward here. First of all, realize that God and His name are the same. His name describes His ability, His personality, as well as His faithfulness. Calling on the name of the Lord is one form of running into this tower of safety.

Secondly, at the end of Solomon’s lengthy prayer at the dedication of the Temple, coupled with enormous sacrifices, God responded from Heaven – “And the Lord said to him: “I have heard your prayer and your supplication that you have made before Me; I have consecrated this house which you have built to put My name there forever, and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.” I Kings 9:3 NKJV. To the extent that God’s name was put in the Temple, going into it is one way of running into the name of the Lord for salvation. This explains why nothing should stop you from going to the place of worship. As important as online participation in worship is, it cannot replace in-person participation in worship. The Bible is clear when it says we should not forsake the assembling of one another. Online worship is a child of necessity, the best route to a complete worship experience is to join the people of God wherever they gather.
