A cardinal doctrine of the Christian faith is Trinity. God is One, but triune in manifestation. That is why we talk of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus is as much God as the Father; and the Spirit is as much God as the Son. One clear evidence of this is found in 1 John 5:7 – “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” Now, Jesus described the Spirit as another Comforter; He having been one. That literally translates to another Helper. The other dimension which Jesus added is the fact that the Holy Spirit would take His permanent abode in believers. To the extent that we have established the Spirit as being God and He now lives with us, we now have a fourth understanding of the presence of the Lord. The Lord is present because the Spirit lives within.
The same Spirit is given to us to help us impact our world. A believer who is armed with the consciousness of the Spirit’s presence will lead a life of exploit the way Jesus did.
In effect, believers are carriers of God! Two things should follow this submission. First, we are under constant surveillance of the Spirit. There are many things people won’t do if they know the camera light is trailing them. Believers do wrong things in secret because of false impression that no one is looking. They totally forget that God’s eyes are everywhere at all times. Second, those who carry God should be influencers. Everywhere Jesus went He made a difference, because He was God in human flesh. He did all the exploits by the enabling of the Spirit. The same Spirit is given to us to help us impact our world. A believer who is armed with the consciousness of the Spirit’s presence will lead a life of exploit the way Jesus did.
