We anchored the last meditation on the fact that every child of God has what it takes to overcome the world and its ruler. Unwavering faith is the key. Our immediate focus is to learn how to express faith for victory. There is no better way than taking cues from those who have exercised faith successfully and were commended. Jesus healed the centurion’s servant, having first commended his faith. “When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even I Israel!”
“Before you speak, remember that justification or condemnation, victory or failure is all tied to the words of the mouth.”
How did the centurion express his faith that tapped virtue from Jesus? It was by what he said. When Jesus offered to come to his house, he declined. This was borne out of respect as well as reason. Respect because he did not feel worthy to have Jesus under his roof; and reason because he, being a man of authority, could get things done by simply speaking. He figured out that Jesus’ authority was much stronger than his. He believed that Jesus could speak his servant back to health. And that’s what happened. Faith can be discerned by what we say and how we say it. Every day people speak; what is not certain is whether they release faith or doubt from their mouths. Before you speak, remember that justification or condemnation, victory or failure is all tied to the words of the mouth.
