There are two prayers in this abridged verse of scripture. As a quick background, the entire chapter captures David’s penitent prayer after he was rebuked for his sin. The first line of prayer here was his plea not to lose the presence of the Lord. We must immediately add that this prayer is not only applicable to sin situations; it is a timeless prayer that every believer ought to pray regularly. The Bible does not shy away from telling us that life may throw up some difficulties occasionally. That should not be a concern in the least once the presence of the Lord is secured.
Every problem is a prospect when the Lord is present…With the presence of God, you are sure to enjoy thoroughfare and not roadblock; breakthrough and not breakdown…it is the presence of God that will turn such dreams to realities.
Every problem is a prospect when the Lord is present. It must be this understanding that made Moses desperate for God’s presence. “And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.” (Exodus 33:15). The importance of the presence of God is well spelt out in the psalms. It is what will make the obstacles skip out of the way like lamb; it will drive Jordan asunder. With the presence of God, you are sure to enjoy thoroughfare and not roadblock; breakthrough and not breakdown. Apart from physical problems, we do have dreams and aspirations. It is important to keep this at heart, that it is the presence of God that will turn such dreams to realities. “There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doesn’t, except God be with him” (John 3:1-2, KJV). If great result is your goal in life then you need to hunger for a large dose of God’s presence in your life.
