God’s charge to Abraham is valid for everyone. We are called to walk with Him. Before delving into its nitty-gritty, it is important to note that walking with God is a full-time job. You cannot partially walk with God. Those who will walk with God must embrace it as an all-encompassing calling. Now, what are the markers of those who walk with God? We draw three inspirations for this, all from the book of Psalms. Let us begin with Psalm 34:1 – “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” (NKJV). Blessing or praising the Lord is a primary requirement for walking with God. Please note that this takes commitment, and it is for all times. That means you don’t wait for the feel-good hormone to throw your hand up in praise to God.

The prophet Habakkuk got it right when he said: “Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls— Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.”
