There is an inseparable link between love and faith. Paul wrote that faith works by love (Galatians 5:6). Love facilitates faith and makes it profitable. Actually love is to all Bible subjects what a hub is to the spokes of a bicycle wheel. For instance, effective prayer is inconceivable without love. It is in prayer we are taught to forgive people. Now, that takes love to do. If we don’t love people unconditionally and forgive them freely, we throw spanner to our work of prayer.
From our text, we find another linkage; this time it is between love and divine disclosure or revelation. Jesus walked in the love of the Father and enjoyed unlimited access to revelation. Hear His witness: “For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel!” (John 5:20). We win by revelation; and we can only enjoy revelation as we secure the love of the Father by loving Him and loving people made in His image. There is so much hunger in our world; but not everyone is hungry for food. The greatest hunger actually is for love from a pure heart. Choose to feed someone today; and you may have opened the door to new level of revelation with God.
