Finally, our text points to the Holy Spirit as another source of comfort. Despite the persecution that hit the early church, they kept waxing strong, growing in leaps and bounds. The Holy Spirit’s strong comfort cushioned the effects of the persecution.
It is through Him that we know the race set before us. Otherwise, we risk burning our energy on what will not count ultimately. In addition, it is also by the help of the Spirit that we can lay aside the weights and sins that are inhibitors in the race of life.
When, through wisdom, you gain solutions to a puzzle, the countenance lights up. Keep in mind that many things that will shape your life will come at the spur of the moment. You will not have advance notice to make ready for them. Never mind; it is at such moments that the Spirit of wisdom takes over.
As we behold the glory of God in the word, the Holy Spirit does the outworking of the transformation until the beauty of Jesus is manifest to the world through us. So here again, we see that the Spirit is indispensable.
We now have it on good authority that the same Spirit can make believers bounce back from any adversity that may befall them. Therefore, it is premature to draw conclusion on a child of God who is still breathing and has the Spirit of God working in him or her.

What all these point to is that whatever has been given to us must be guarded jealously. This brings us to another reason why the Holy Spirit is indispensable. No one can safeguard physical heritage, much less spiritual ones, by their strength and wisdom alone.
In our previous meditation, we came across one reason why the Spirit is indispensable. It is by Him that we can make choices that tend to life. Without giving the Spirit the right of way, we risk taking steps that will be counterproductive to divine purposes for our lives.
Choices unregulated by the Spirit of God are liable to be sinful; they yield nothing but dividends of wounds and woes. To get our choices right, we must strive to align the spirit of our mind with the mind of the Spirit.
Making choices without God’s warrant will not only be a snare, but it will also be without divine blessing. It is for this reason that the counsel of Solomon must be taken seriously. “In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:6 NKJV).
