What does the saying that ‘the wise man’s eyes are in his head’ mean? Are there particular people who have their eyes fixed in other parts of the body? All normal human beings have their eyes fixed in their heads. However, the idea expressed in this verse is that a wise man is able to see ahead. He foresees danger ahead and hides himself. He also foresees opportunities and rightly positions himself to take maximum advantage of them.
Ability to discern the most suitable time to gather their supplies marks out the ant as wise.
This brings us to another manifestation of wisdom that we can learn from the ants. We already talked about hard work and team spirit that is prevalent among this lower creature; but they also have the sense to prepare for the rainy day. The ant gathers its food in summer and at other opportune times. That timely step frees the ant to sleep in the winter. Ability to discern the most suitable time to gather their supplies marks out the ant as wise. No one can be considered wise without the right use of times and seasons. Most times it is not just ideas that separate people; it is putting ideas to work at the appropriate time.
