An indispensable trait that will qualify anyone to grow in divine wisdom is humility, the readiness to stoop low and pick instruction from different instructors. Jeremiah was once told to go to the potter’s house and watch the process. As the potter made a vessel, it suffered a defect. Rather than throw away the clay, the potter remade it into another vessel. The import of that was to teach the prophet that what the clay was in the hand of the potter was what the children of Israel were in His hands. The moral of this is that God can redeem and restore. In our text, the course instructor is the ant, and no particular group of people is intended. Just about anyone in search of wisdom can benefit from what goes on in the ant kingdom.
The way to the top is to emulate the wisdom of the ant and work hard…hard work is walking the path of wisdom.
What are the specific ways of the ant that are worthy of emulation? The first thing is the industry of the ant. It is reckoned that not even the bee is as hard-working as the ant. The lesson of this is more pronounced when one understands that she does her work without supervision. This is a challenge to man who, though may be under several guides but still finds it difficult to work. The Bible says that a lazy man will be under tribute. The way to the top is to emulate the wisdom of the ant and work hard. In our immediate past meditation, we stressed the place of industry that it helps us to emulate God and contribute to the growth of the society. Here, the lesson is that hard work is walking the path of wisdom.
