Is there any correlation between the prophetic word and clear thinking? The leprous men would answer in the affirmative. There was a very severe famine in the land of Israel, so severe that women began to boil their children for food. That was when the prophet Elisha stepped in, bringing a word from the Lord. “Then Elisha said, “Hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord: ‘Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria.’’ II Kings 7:1 NKJV. A turnaround within 24 hours was promised, but no one knew how that would happen.
Clear thinking is like turning on the light in the darkness. It is necessary to solve problems, create plans, and attain purpose.
It is very unlikely that the leprous men heard that word of prophecy since their begging post was on the outskirts of the city. What was clear was that they engaged their brain in clear thinking. They listed all the options open to them. They also considered the likely outcome of each of the options. That process would soon lead to a breakthrough for them and the entire nation. Clear thinking is like turning on the light in the darkness. It is necessary to solve problems, create plans, and attain purpose. Believers who already have the mind of Christ are in a better position to engage in clear thinking.
