In our previous meditation, we observed that pain can be a good timekeeper. Just as a woman knows a baby is approaching through contractions, so can the birth of a destiny come with difficulty and pain. Does this suggest that the only way to know the fullness of time is through pain? Not in the least. The word of God could be time indicator on several issues. Daniel was able to know that the end of captivity was in sight for Israel by reading the Scriptures written by prophet Jeremiah. God’s Spirit alighting on a passage of Scripture may be all you need to have an understanding of time. Never forget that the word and the Spirit work together. To begin with, the words in Scriptures are gathered by the Spirit. So when we read any part of Scripture the Spirit behind it is activated.
“There is no way to develop vitality in our faith journey without paying attention to the written word. Reading the word of God will get our human spirit alert to the promptings of God.”
Jesus challenged His audience at a time to search the Scriptures (John 5:39). Paul later showed the profitability of Scriptures in his pastoral epistle to a protégé, Timothy. “All Scripture is God-breathed, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfected, thoroughly furnished to every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). There is no way to develop vitality in our faith journey without paying attention to the written word. Reading the word of God will get our human spirit alert to the promptings of God. When you are in doubt of the ideal time to make a move, spend extra time in the word; and keep in mind that His word is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path.
