In our previous meditation, we stressed the fact that God’s guidance will lead to a life of exploits. Two characters, one for each of the testaments, were used as illustrations. Moses was a prophet like no other because he learned to listen and obey God’s voice. Paul became an extraordinary apostle because he was privileged to see the Just One and hear His voice. There is an add-on that takes place when we are guided by God. Provision and sustenance are guaranteed when God takes the lead. David praised the Lord as his shepherd. Being so, he confidently declared that he would want no go thing. It was the same David who declared, “I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread.”
“It is comforting to know that God’s care and provision for those who follow His lead are with no strings attached.”
It is comforting to know that God’s care and provision for those who follow His lead are with no strings attached. In other words, God does not need the permission of your enemy to bless you. This is the core of our text. The Psalmist declared that God prepared a table (which means blessing) before him in the presence of his enemies. The enemies do not have to be removed from the earth before you can be blessed. God only demands your faith and obedience. Perhaps what many believers take as enemies hindering them are nothing more than their own unbelief and disobedience to God’s Spirit.
