The meditation yesterday hinged on how to develop right attitude in negative environments and situations. Simply put, it is by believing that God is sovereign and He has what it takes to redeem every condition to fit into His original plan. This brings us to the privilege that we have as children of God; that is, prayer. We can turn everything to Him in prayers. The text for our meditation today holds the key to so many things, including our joy. Information will come your way that may appear threatening, things will develop around you that may cause panic; but if you learn to shape them into prayers, you will be a happy soul.
Prayer is God’s prescription for our woes… The temptation to complain, grow cold and bitter is there when there are difficulties; but that is not God’s way of going about it. We are to pray!
Prayer is God’s prescription for our woes. James said, “Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray” (James 5:13). The temptation to complain, grow cold and bitter is there when there are difficulties; but that is not God’s way of going about it. We are to pray! Jesus showed us an example in this. When He was faced with the agony of the impending Cross, He prayed. For Jesus, the presence of agony was occasion for more earnestness in prayer. The greater the challenge we are confronting, the more we should be fervent in prayer. Given the fact that everyone has their load of care, prayer should have been the most ardent of spiritual exercise that people engage in. Unfortunately, this is not the case. We are to borrow a leaf from the Master to turn everything to God through prayer. We are sure to have a double effect as we pray: not only are we going to get solutions to problems, but the very exercise ends up maturing us in faith.
