In our previous meditation, we learned that favour can deliver to us results beyond our wildest imaginations. By it we can also enjoy waivers. I can relate to this perfectly. I once went to South Africa High Commission to renew my entry visa. A day before my departure, I was informed that the procedure had changed. When you show up on any business day your documents would be scrutinized and if okay you will be given an appointment for a proper interview on another business day. That would mean approximately two days interval. Surprisingly, the first day I made my move the officer came out and said he had some space for an on-the-spot interview that day! That was how my papers were collected. Something else happened: when he checked my papers he told me that the category of visa I wanted would not be possible right then and he wouldn’t want to stamp “denied” on my passport in order not to mess it up. He offered to give me another type of visa. As if that was not enough, He asked me to come the following day which was not a business day. I was the only one to the best of my knowledge that went in that morning. In just about 10 minutes everything was over. I knew it was all favour. With favour, rules can be set aside for your sake.
“Favour does not only manifest in terms of physical deliverables and waivers, it also includes being shielded from the plots of the enemy”.
Our text of scripture for meditation today shows another manifestation of favour. David, the author of this psalm, had many enemies. Yet, they could not bring him down. He saw that as a product of favour. Here is the point: favour does not only manifest in terms of physical deliverables and waivers, it also includes being shielded from the plots of the enemy. You are already in favour – that is why the enemy has not prevailed over you.
