In our previous meditation, I shared what transpired at the Live Seed Christian Church of God. The testimonies of the brethren brought glory to God and revitalized the faith of many. The host pastor was not left out. Before he welcomed me to the stage, he recalled the many acts of God’s grace and providential intervention. One stood out for me particularly. He recalled a man who met him on the road one day. The man told him that it was exactly two years earlier that the pastor gave him a tract, blue in colour. The pastor could not remember. For those two years, the man never interacted with the pastor nor showed up in Church. On this occasion, he asked for the account of the Church and transferred some money to them, unsolicited. Two years passed, but the gospel seed sowed in the form tracts was still alive and brought in financial harvest.
In chapter two of the book of Esther, Mordecai uncovered a plot to kill the king. He reported the matter and that saved the king. The act was only documented, no reward of any kind followed immediately. Instead of being rewarded, it was the wicked Haman who was elevated and became the most powerful man in the kingdom, next to the king himself. Three chapters later, we read of how on a night the king could not sleep. He called for the book of records and found the account of how Mordecai saved his life. Gathering that no reward whatsoever had been given to him for his act of kindness, he corrected the omission the following day. Mordecai got his reward when it was most crucial. The moral of the story is that we must never be weary of doing what is good. Even when it seems there is no corresponding reward to what you are doing, remember that the seed lives. At the fullness of time, God will organize your due reward.
