Ecclesiastes 8:11 explains why people are deceptively encouraged in sinful ways. “Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.” Usually, God does not pounce on any sinner without giving a space for repentance. Unfortunately, that is often misconstrued by erring people and they start to think there will be no consequence of their rebelliousness. The opposite of this is equally true. When there is no immediate reward for noble deeds, the temptation to be discouraged is rife. What every faithful child of God must know is that there is the element of correct timing in divine activities. There is a fixed time for God’s reward system to come to play; and it is called the due season. Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” (NKJV).
We never can tell the exact moment when the reward will come pouring in…We should sow our seed of kindness morning, noon and night. You never can tell which one will ignite the harvest.
It is beyond man to determine due season. The disciples of Jesus curiously asked Him if He was going to restore the Kingdom to Israel. His answer is instructive for us here: “And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.” As far as times are concerned we must come to terms with what the Psalmist said in Psalm 31:15 – “My times are in Your hand”. The safety valve in all of this is to remain constant in service to God and man. We never can tell the exact moment when the reward will come pouring in. This is the wisdom contained in our passage today. We should sow our seed of kindness morning, noon and night. You never can tell which one will ignite the harvest.
