Preparatory to one of my local trips in August this year, I went to a supermarket to get an item. Specifically, it was a particular brand of bathing soap. I moved in circle around the segment where their toiletries were displayed, but I could not locate it. I was sure that they had it in stock, because while I was approaching, a woman had picked about two tablets of the soap in her cart. After making my futile rounds, one of the store attendants observed my frustration. He said, “What precisely are you looking for?”. In less than 10 seconds after telling him, he got the soap for me.
Someone knows where or how to get what you are looking for. We all need to trust God to bring us in contact with bearers of information who can bring an end to our wandering and stagnation.
Our text was about Joseph who was mandated by his father to go and check on his brothers. He got to the place where he expected to find them but they were not there. He was wandering around when a stranger spotted him. He asked him what he was seeking and went ahead to give him the latest information of their whereabouts. Here is the moral of the story: every form of wandering is a proof of some missing information. Again, for everything that is causing you to wander around, there is someone with a clue. Someone knows where or how to get what you are looking for. We all need to trust God to bring us in contact with bearers of information who can bring an end to our wandering and stagnation.
