In our previous meditation, we spoke a bit about the glory of God. We are returning to the same subject for a better grasp. Moses alluded to the glory of God when he said, “And the sight of the glory of the Lord was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.” Exodus 24:17. This perspective of the glory of the Lord was as conceived by the people. Remember that when God sent down bread, they didn’t have any better way to describe it other than calling it “manna.” Again, remember that yesterday we made reference to Jesus’ miracle in Cana of Galilee where He turned water into wine. John 2:11 summed up the event – “This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth His glory; and His disciples believed on Him.” Here, the glory of the Lord was not shown in a similitude, but the demonstration.
Now, the word, “glory” is from the Hebrew word “kabowd;” and it means ‘weight’ in a positive sense. Another way to look at it is to depict it as worth. Using this substitute, John 2:11 will read: “This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee and manifested forth His worth.” That makes a perfect sense. When He gave them wine out of the water, a feat that was never known before then nor after, it was to show them His worth or what He could do. Practically, the glory of God is about His full essence. With this understanding Numbers 14:21 becomes a breathtaking promise. The Lord said, “But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord.” God wants to show His true worth or weight; not just to some individuals in some corners of the earth, but all over the world. Surely we are having a count down to the rain of glory. That rain can begin to fall on you today as you wait on Him and straighten out your life.
