Murmuring and complaining breed frustration. Even God found this so. In our text, God had had enough of their murmur, was displeased and swift judgment followed.

Secondly, believers should get involved in politics at every level. As little as the leadership of residents association might seem, you may be the man in council whom God will use to favour His kingdom.

The progression by which events unfolded at the tomb is descriptive of God’s revelation to us; it comes a little at a time and moves towards a climax. The first thing sighted was the stone rolled away.

Our natural inclination is to pay people back in their own coin. How we must remember that the life we are called to live is no longer natural – life in Christ is supernatural. Hence, we must outgrow tit-for-tat in dealing with those negatively disposed to us.

In our previous meditation, we noted that the bent of the Jews towards hospitality is rooted in their ancestry as well as their experience. Our focus today is that the practice of hospitality has never been devoid of reward.

On reaching their destination, they compelled the “stranger” to come in with them for dinner and stay the night in their place. Their attitude demonstrated that they were hospitable people. Hospitality was a common trait among the Jews in Bible times.

He that knows and knows that he knows; he is a wise man – follow him! Following the wisdom in this proverb will save anyone from spending time on the undeserving.

Waxing stoically, Sayed said that while he was a minister, he was serving people; and the job he now does is serving people too. There is no better expression of pragmatism than that.

“Before you hold a grudge, hold a conversation. It may be a result of a misunderstanding”. At the root of most grudges or complete breakout of hostility is the unwillingness to hold a conversation where necessary.

It is not in vain that the Bible says anger rests in the bosom of fools. Those who have unguarded temper will eventually cause themselves great ruins.
