Different things can create a memorial for people before God. Firstly, offering creates a memorial. In light of this the Psalmist prayed here: “May He remember all your offerings, And accept your burnt sacrifice. Selah” Psalms 20:3 NKJV.
Learning to keep silent then becomes a safety valve both in our dealings with God and man. It is in this light we can appreciate the wisdom in saying that those who keep their mouths keep their lives.
It isn’t just something rhythmical to say that your words define your world. Our text declares the potency of right words. Wrong words are equally potent, only to a destructive end.
Any gift of God, be it singing or preaching, vision or prophecy, that we deploy as a way of making money makes us sorcerers of some sort.
The gift of God was at a wrong place, doing the wrong job. Jesus provided a mid-course correction and etched his name in history. He went on to write the book of Matthew.
The bane of many youngsters today is the undue rush to be rich. This story is a grim reminder that we truly live in the last days. Several pictures are painted of the days in which we live. People will become lovers of money with all its associated ills.
We generally do not spare any expense to maintain good physical health. The same cannot be said about our spiritual health.
Our lifting lies in diligently hearkening to God’s voice. That is how blessings will come chasing after us rather than we chasing blessings.
Serving God is rewarding, you just may not know how and when the reward will come. This is where faith comes in. Keep serving God with your time, talent, and treasure, believing that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
