Some automobiles have factory-fitted speed limit. The moment you are any fraction above that, you hear a beep; but that is not forever. Some sound about five times. If you neglect the warning and press the throttle harder, it will stop beeping. It seems the car would say, “Since you are not ready to go within the recommended limit, you are on your own”! This is a reflection of God’s dealings with us. He will use any of His numerous ways to show us the light and restrain us from excesses and dangerous paths. If we neglect His light we are on our own. Neglecting His warning will not always have a happy ending. We are better off if, when we hear His voice either through nature or mature counsel of a trusted friend, we do not harden our hearts.
Neglecting His warning will not always have a happy ending…As long as we keep within the boundaries drawn by the group we are safe. Violation of rules and procedures spells doom.
On some other occasions, what God uses to keep us from danger is to hitch us up with groups or companies with protocols. As long as we keep within the boundaries drawn by the group we are safe. Violation of rules and procedures spells doom. In our meditation yesterday, we saw how a captain set aside their industry guidelines for sentimental reasons. It was bad enough to allow the children into the cockpit, but worse still when he vacated his seat for them. Those who are saddled with the responsibility of taking care of others must be stickler for rules. In our text of scripture, Moses reprimanded Korah and his company because they tried going beyond the role assigned them by God. That adventure led to rebellion and eventual destruction.
