Again, if people leave you it can be a momentary setback, but if God leaves you it is a disaster. If people leave you, know that you are in good company; they left Jesus too. The only company you cannot afford to lose in life is that of God…So when all else leave but God remains with you, you retain the winning majority.

The recommendation of James as seen in our text is salutary. Read or hear everything quickly, but your comment or other actions should be slow. Until you have established the truth of a matter, never share or act. Due diligence will shield you from destroying yourself or regret being a part of other people’s destruction.

He did not want conflicting views in his mind. We all need to make this our prayer. Divergent views can cause major distractions in life and lead to satanic entrapment.

Oswald Chambers wrote a devotional titled MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST. I think this should guide us all. God is the highest; let us learn to always do our utmost for Him. The best is only good for the King of kings and the Lord of lords.

For Him, doing precedes teaching. Incidentally, the moral authority to teach a thing comes from the practice of the same. Jesus wanted His disciples to serve one another after His departure, so He demonstrated that by washing their feet

Sights and sounds of heaven will expose the enemy’s game plan. Elisha constantly read the battle plan of the king of Syria. Every move the Syrians made was revealed to him through heaven’s audio-visual arrangements. Unless we also enjoy this, the enemy will gain advantage and outwit us.

Finally, we have an advantage that our weapons of war, though not physical, are dynamic because we channel them through God. As long as our loyalty to King Jesus is unquestionable, no foe will assail.

The Lord’s hand, which invariably translates to salvation, is always stretched out towards those who walk in holiness. A choice of personal holiness will not only save us from many troubles, but it will also make God flex His power on our behalf.

If we fix our gaze on spectacular events we may never be able to tap into God’s power. It is fruitless trying to figure out the means by which God will solve our problems. What is profitable is putting our faith in His ability and submitting to every instruction.

This brings to mind the catchy saying by an anonymous author: “Preach the gospel, where necessary use words”. One is immediately impressed by the fact that the gospel of Jesus essentially is not in words only but actions. This was the point we stressed in our previous meditation, the need to preach the gospel through kind deeds.
