Here is the point: those who want to enjoy victory over sin cannot afford to watch the devil move from a foothold to a stronghold in their lives.

Cain seemed too casual with what he gave. Offering is a serious part of worshiping God. We must learn to do it generously and cheerfully too.

Someone has tried to distinguish between grace and mercy. He opines that grace is receiving benevolence that we don’t qualify for, whereas mercy is escaping the much-deserved punishment for our wrongdoings.

The provision was an exercise of grace; and I want us to learn some things about its nature. Grace is spontaneous.

This is one aspect where David excelled. Confront him about any error, he would roll before God and accept responsibility.

So when we bring in the fear of the Lord, all other fears are uprooted. Those who have a reverential fear of the Lord are bold as a lion, and they are not intimidated by anything.

When the first couple exercised their power of choice contrary to God’s revealed will, it became a sin to them. The immediate consequence of this was their exposure.

Eve could have sought a second opinion from her husband. That could have been her accountability group. In our previous meditation, we noted that all temptations involve distortions.

Behind every form of temptation is some form of distortion. Several such distortions can be seen from the first recorded temptation. Here we see the devil presenting himself as a good guy.

Anyone who wants to overcome the devil must study their environment and locate what could be soft targets in their lives. Once you locate possible soft targets in your life, begin to fortify them.
