Apostle Paul listed in this one verse certain things that should be out of bounds to believers. First on the list is fornication. It is safe to conclude that the next on the list, uncleanness, stands for other forms of sexual perversion that may not strictly fall under fornication.
A virtuous woman gave a timely warning to her prince son. She wanted him to avoid what has destroyed kings all through history. Adultery does not spare the throne! A man of great authority can be reduced to a piece of bread because of uncontrolled sexual appetite.
The text before us captures the fourth thing that should make the list of the believers’ routine; that is, desiring the judgments of the Lord at all times. Let us begin by attempting to understand what the psalmist meant by “Your judgments”.
Today, we put our emphasis on righteousness as the next in line. Take another look at our text, God’s special blessing is reserved for those who practice righteousness at all times. There are people who shiver when they hear words like righteousness or holiness.
Trust is the second thing that should constitute the routine of all believers. John H. Sammis captures the essence of complete trust in his famous hymn, TRUST AND OBEY.
Are there things that we can establish as standard procedures for believers of all ages? Yes, there are four of such things that should form the routine of any serious-minded believer;
If believers truly understand the stuff they are made of, it will be easy to walk tall anywhere and under any circumstances. From our text, the new birth experienced by every believer is by the word of God.
Arthur L. Williams Jr. wrote a book several years ago and titled it, ALL YOU CAN DO IS ALL YOU CAN DO BUT ALL YOU CAN DO IS ENOUGH. This resonates with my philosophy of life to a great extent.
Victory can only be determined when all rules have been strictly adhered to. Life, too, has rules. Those who end up being rulers or winners are those who have not only learned the rules but applied them.
