Serving God is not burdensome, but it cannot be done with a layback attitude either. To serve God acceptably is to be ready to bear some cost. We should be wary of serving God in ways and manners that do not engage us fully – physically, mentally, financially.

So life in the kingdom of God is a completely new experience. It is not automatic that a simple profession of faith in Jesus will produce all the virtues of the Saviour in us at once.

Renewing of the mind is our pass out of the depravity characterizing this world into the beauty and victory that is in the Kingdom. Without stressing this, the renewal must be by the word of God.

Reading the word of God will get our human spirit alert to the promptings of God. When you are in doubt of the ideal time to make a move, spend extra time in the word; and keep in mind that His word is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path.

When you feel pain, look beyond it. Ask the Lord to show you what the pain is signaling. A wise, expectant mother shoves aside pain and begins to make ready for delivery. It is time to begin to prepare for the next phase that God is bringing you into.

Those who do not operate their gifts either due to lack of discovery or sheer dereliction to duty will invariably rob the Body. We understand that the body of Christ is maintained by the contribution of every joint. Failure to use your gift, therefore, means you are weakening the overall health of all.

Prospering with our spiritual gifts begins with the discovery of them. You cannot put to any reasonable use what you are yet to acknowledge in the first place. It would be a tragedy of great proportion to lead through life without maximizing one’s gift. So, how do we discover our gifts?

The gifts and callings are complementary. The gifts are the tools for carrying out our calling. An understanding of your gift may as well be a pointer to the type of calling or assignment that has been given to you.
